Course Description

This will be a one week intensive course in “Plein Air Painting” at the Burren College of Art. Students will spend the day in the field (5-8 hours, we will pack a lunch) painting, drawing and sketching the landscape of Ireland in your medium of choice. Lectures and demonstrations and instruction will be given daily. Topics covered, methods, techniques & history of “Plein air Painting”, media (oil paint, watercolor and pastel), sketching and composition.
Students will have the opportunity to work in the studios provided at the Burren College of Art in the evenings and in the event of rain.

We will take 3 day trips to paint at such wonderful sights as the Cliffs of Moher,
the Irish shoreline.
While at the Burren we will be treated to a night of authentic Irish folk tales and attend
a ceili in nearby Kilfenora.

The trip will be wrapped up by 3 days and nights in Dublin where we will tour and sketch at the National Gallery, the Francis Bacon Studio, Hugh Lane(the Dublin City Galleries), and more…

Day 1 Departure Friday June 27, 2014 Departure

Van transportation to JFK airport
Participants will gather at SUNY Ulster Community College parking lot at 06:30pm

If you arrive to the airport on your own, please make sure to

Departure at 11:35pm on Delta Airlines #224 nonstop flight to Shannon
Dinner and breakfast will be served on board
