Program Description

This summer program in Dharamsala, India will offer classes in

TIBETAN BUDDHIST PHILOSOPHY (4 Credits)

As brought to global notice by the Dalai Lama and other Tibetan scholars, teachers and practitioners in exile from their homeland, Tibetan Buddhist philosophy is a living tradition featuring a distinctive world view, rigorous analytic argumentation, ethical psychology, a deep commitment to non-violence, and a spiritual technology involving meditation and visualization practice. In the context of our experiential setting in India, we will examine its unique development from its Indian roots, its present role in Tibetan cultural survival, and its practical application to perennial questions of identity, moral choice and human purpose and to current ethical, social and psychological issues. Class time will include meditation practice.
In addition to classes and studios, there will be field trips to ancient and new monasteries, temples and museums in the area which is the home of the Tibetan government-in-exile and of the Dalai Lama.
The intensive study, meditation and service program will be followed by a Himalayan trek.
The program is open to students, teachers, and community members.

TIBETAN STUDIO ARTS (2 Credits)
The Tibetan studio arts classes begin with foundational drawing of figures, images and symbols belonging to the Tibetan iconographic tradition. Students learn to prepare traditional materials and work with traditional tools in the process of completing a thangka painting, woodcarving or wood painting project under the supervision of a Tibetan master artist.

You’ll arrive Delhi at 10:50am May 27, 2018 local time.

Sunday July 01, 2018 – Return
You’ll leave Delhi, India with Virgin Atlantic# 301 at 12:55pm non-stop flight to London International Airport -LHR- and connect with Virgin Atlantic# 025.

You’ll arrive New York JFK International Airport at 11:10pm same day local time.

We accept only written cancellations.

Important Airlines Rules

Failure to present valid passport and/or visas:
You will be denied boarding, your airline reservation will be cancelled an you will have to purchase a new ticket at the fare available at the time you have your documents in order.
Most airlines will not give you any credit and/or refund for your original ticket.
No show at the airport:
Automatically cancels your whole reservation and invalidates your ticket. You will have to purchase a new ticket at the fare available at the time you re-schedule your trip. Most airlines will not give you any credit – refund for your original ticket.
Missing any flight for any reason:
Automatically cancels the rest of the reservation, invalidates your ticket and you will have to purchase a one way ticket for the rest of your itinerary. Airlines will not give you any credit for the unused portion of your ticket
Unused portion (s) of your ticket are not refundable.

Documents To Enter A Foreign Country

Possession of documentation is the responsibility of each passenger.
Failure to provide them will result in denied boarding with no right to refund.

Valid passport
Travelers going abroad need a valid passport.
Some countries require your US passport to be valid for at least six months after your return trip while some other countries may require a longer validity.
If your passport expires before the required validity then you will have to apply for a new one. Please check with the Consulate(s) of the country(s) that you plan to visit for further details on requirements. American citizens can get passport information at www.travel.state.gov/passport Non‑American citizens should check with their respective Consulate and will need proper documents to re‑enter the United States.

Visas
A visa is a stamp that is added to your passport by a country’s Consulate.
Some countries require a visa in order to enter while others let American citizens enter the country
without a visa for a short period of time.
